awesome?

I have no use for either of these. I haven't used crayons since elementary school.

But they make me happy. (Well, kind of.)

I'm debating if we live in such a wonderful world that people are creative enough to come up with natural-crystal shaped crayons and gilded herringbone slippers, or such a misguided world that people spend their time coming up with natural-crystal shaped crayons and gilded herringbone slippers.

Part of my ongoing dialogue with myself.

It's OK to still think they're pretty, though. Right?

Superbowl.

Today I saw a news broadcast about Superbowl commercials, and it reminded me that I want to have a Superbowl party!

Well, in reality I just want to have a party. This gives me an excuse.

I'm thinking guac and chips, fried zucchini, fruit and dip--does anyone know if they make mini veggie burgers? Plus either of the following:

Fudgy brownie chocolate chip cookie bars from Bakerella.

Brownie pizza with cream cheese frosting, crushed Reese's cups, strawberries, and coconut from How Sweet It Is.

I've been obsessed with browsing dessert recipes lately. Probably because I haven't had real dessert in a loooong time. I'm talking a couple of weeks.

I know. Thanks for your support.

It's becoming an addiction. I can browse recipes for an hour at a time, practically salivating over all the photos, wishing desperately for a red velvet cupcake to appear beside me and make my wishes come true.

Sigh. I can't even come up with something quippy to close this with. I just really want it to happen.

mass.

I do love you, dearest MA. Even when you dump feet of snow on me and eliminate the sidewalks I use to get to class.

Humbug. Still want to go to France.

modcloth, how i love thee.

(without the belt)

Please feel free to gift me with any of these at your earliest convenience :)

design sponge

Not that anyone's forcing me to choose, but I really can't decide which apartment from Design Sponge I like better.

These lovely shots are from the apartment of Fiona Gray, of Bluebellgray.

And these are from Stacey Sargent of Love and Photographs:

Sigh. What a quandary.

I think Fiona might have to win because her name is so cool.

boox

So far today I have made two trips from my house to campus and back. And you know what? It sucks. It's not quite cold enough for the snow and ice to be firm, so my Land's End tweed loafers-- which are the single most expensive pair of shoes I own, mind you-- got all slushified. Yuck.

But it could always be worse. I could be living in Cormac McCarthy's The Road. Which would make an excellent winter reading book snuggled under the covers with the lights low and super chocolaty hot chocolate. Keeping things in perspective.

Another book I've been dying to buy:

This book pretty much describes me. Is it bad that I don't mind being pigeonholed like that?

libraries and cold war brownies

What's so great about libraries, you ask? (I don't know why you ask this, but you do. You're a curious individual.)

Well, for one thing, they're gorgeous:

Wouldn't researching in one of these make schoolwork so much more wonderful?

...

Oh yeah. The whole question thing was just an excuse to post the little beauts. That's allowed, right? Of course it is. My blog.

In other news, this brownie is better than crack:

What's my advice? My, you're asking lots of questions today. That's okay. I don't mind answering.

Make them immediately. They've got cream cheese, Nutella, dark chocolate, cinnamon, and chili powder. So go ahead and stuff your face.

taste testing

I lurve Etsy, but it can be super overwhelming. Luckily I just discovered Taste Test, which generates a list of things it thinks you'd like. You just click through the items it provides (if you don't like any of them, click refresh all items), picking out your favorites, and voila! Here's a few of the lovely things I've found:
